I once loved a dark girl…
I never knew her name
She came one day in the eye of river dusk
her dusky shadow prevailing the
green fields and thoughts in the
monsoon of a village rain song.
She danced with the peacocks at the
foot of the fort smiling at me
through the rain
hips swaying
caught in a sudden downpour
of fragrant feelings of
yesteryears.
She danced the violence
of pouring mud and age
cut in vision and time
beckoning a darkening
sky.
She danced and
danced
the marble of an evening
on a silence of a
desire
touching a street
and its secrets
running alone
another time
another place
again.
